Due to the development of the Web Industry during the last 15 years our lives have changed greatly! No more do have to leave our homes to make some purchases (goods or services), as we can just visit an eBay online auction site or online resellers such as Amazon.com and Buy.com and go shopping without going outside.
One more example of changes in human interaction brought by web development is the blog. Such applications for Web as WordPress and b2evolution, and open source content systems (Typo3, Xoops, Joomla, and Drupal) created a favourable blog environment for individual websites with new models of interaction and communication.
It all started in the mid-1990s, with the fast growth of Web development. The growth of the Web industry was boosted by these factors:
- The cost of Website development and hosting decreased greatly
- With the help of small Web development companies web design became rather accessible
- Many systems like LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) became available to the public free of charge, which made people around the world set up new Websites thus raising the Web industry's popularity
- Development of easy to use WYSIWYG web development software (Microsoft FrontPage or AdobeDreamweaver), which allows anyone to develop a Web page in a 5 minutes' period (knowledge of programming languages is not necessary)
- And finally, there appeared technologies, providing the Web as an environment for online applications. Now instead of running an executable code on a local computer, users are interacting with online applications from many locations
