“Driving business success” interview series: final Episode 6 with Randyl Tabajonda.
And here is the Episode 6 of “Driving business success with software testing strategies” interviews. Let’s see what Randyl Tabajonda, Senior Manager — Second Line of Defence — IT, Audit Centre of Excellence at KPMG discusses.
He focuses on regression testing, helping check the code affected by recent changes to ensure that no new bugs emerge. However, during digital transformation, companies usually combine test automation with regression testing to achieve more efficiency and track all changes in time.
Randyl believes that organizations can train engineers to embed a QA culture, but it depends on the digital mindset of QA specialists. If companies start with test automation, then it’s recommended to train the employees starting with test cases. And it’s vital that companies do not follow a big bang approach towards automating regression testing. Many businesses fail when they do so, because QA engineers lack the necessary competencies and skills.
Then, Randyl moves on to three aspects of digital transformation that QA specialists should be involved in. He points out:
- Strategic — adopt QA as early as companies are determining the strategy towards digital transformation.
- Tactical — engage QA during design thinking when identifying the customer needs.
- Operational — implement QA within the Agile transformation.
